This page is here to give you a better understanding of website promotion and how to do it, for a website to be a success the key is getting visitors to your website, so how do we do this?
There are many different ways to promote your website, word of mouth, advertising in magazines, Google Adwords, link exchanges, the list goes on. Most of the time good marketing isn't cheep and usually never free!
link exchanges can be a good way of promotion and can sometimes be free, one way links are more beneficial however you usually find a small charge may be required. Google Adwords and similar is a great way of driving instant, targeted traffic to your site, this can be an expensive option and is not for everybody.

Get your site listed in all the major and good local online business directories, most of which are usually free for a basic listing some do however charge for setting up a link.
Google maps, local business center & Yahoo local are a great place to add your info, within days you could be appearing right at the top of page 1 for FREE!
Dmoz is a great directory to add your business to, but remember all Dmoz listings are manually checked and approved by Dmoz, so if your listing is approved it could take weeks or even months to appear in its directory, also do not submit more than once as they may class your requests as spam and give you the boot! Blogs are another great place to submit your website to, find blogs that are relevant to your sites content, leave a comment along with your sites address, bloggers love to get feedback from people who read their content!
Join online forums and actively use the forum, again listing your domain where possible other members will visit your site and it can also be a helping hand in getting Google and other search engines to take more notice of your site boosting you in the search results.

And dont forget to list your web address where ever you can offline, on business cards, letterheads, and all other stationary products.
